WHAT IS COMPASSION?
Compassion is the spiritual recognition of the interconnectedness and inherent worthiness of all life that empowers individuals to empathize with another AND proactively take steps to help them thrive and relieve their suffering.
Every person needs compassion, regardless of race, gender, class, appearance, religion, belief, geography, sexual orientation, gender identity, or position of power.
FAMOUS QUOTES ON COMPASSION
“Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.” MLK, Jr.
“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” Dalai Lama XIV
“Compassion is not a virtue – it is a commitment. It’s not something we have or don’t have – It’s something we choose to practice.” Brene Brown

WHY COMPASSION?
BECAUSE IT WORKS!
To expound – During my career as a civil rights lawyer, I had a standard two part response to a client being wronged. First, ask the wrongdoer to stop. Then, if the wrongdoer refused, file a lawsuit. In other words, fight.
However, this fight rarely resulted in a resolution that pleased either side. My client had to wait for months or years to obtain a court order forcing the other side to stop. The other side had to expend time and resources challenging the case. Both sides were typically exhausted and resentful by the conclusion. I knew there must be another way.
The Bible states that way clearly – “Make peace quickly with your opponent while you are on the way to court with him. Otherwise, he will hand you over to the judge.” Matthew 5:25
What if we actually took the Bible’s suggestion and sought to “[m]ake peace quickly” rather than rush to fight.
And, what if we added in another key suggestion – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 12:31.
Well, I tried it. And, what do you know – Jesus’ way worked far better than my traditional methods! Focusing on a peaceful and loving resolution was not only quicker, it also brought the folks involved more satisfaction.
And, that’s what our team wants for you – satisfaction rooted in peace and love. COMPASSION WIN-WIN.
